As the Christmas countdown has officially started, Simon has chosen his favourite items to help you find marvellous gift for your loved ones. From small accessories to sumptuous knitwear, here is his 2018 Christmas gift guide.
Begg and Co. started manufacturing scarves in 1866, in the Scottish town of Paisley. Today they are one of the world’s most famous producers and combine old world machinery with the latest computer techniques to offer scarves from the finest raw materials. Their cashmere an experience to wear, as these scarves are extremely soft, remarkably lightweight and impressively warm. This season’s highlights include their Kishorn quality in an array of wonderful plain colours and the superfine Wispy quality (consisting 8km of cashmere yarn), in the classic and cool polka dot pattern. For classically inspired tartan patterns, their lambswool/angora scarves are the go to choice.
A tie for Christmas is a bit of a cliché, but when they are made by Drake’s this is an entirely different cattle of fish. Whether in silk, wool and cashmere all of their ties are cut and sewn by hand in London. Drake’s exclusive patterns are celebrated around the world for their unique take on men’s style and we particularly like the printed ties with their dash of British eccentricity.
The sumptuous colours of Il Bussetto’s small leather goods are already a good reason to fall in love with the brand. The vegetable tanning of the leathers, the use of traditional Tuscan craft techniques and the meticulous hand finished patina all contribute to the unique look and feel of these products.
Not just pretty, but also practical, they help to keeping your cards and cash in order. For tailoring aficionados, the coat wallet is a particularly nice choice.
This historic Italian knitwear company was the first brand to adorn the shelves of our retail shop. Their merino wool quality in the classic models is hard to beat, and the more recent additions of the wool/silk tennis sweaters are the favourite of many of our long time customers. Our seasonal favourites are the knitted waistcoats and the blouson in a melange lambswool yarn; perfect the festive break.
If you are jetting to the sun on Christmas – we designed our polo shirts with classic sportswear, travel and elegance in mind. The short sleeve one piece collar model is the perfect companion on the beach or under a V-neck sweater, while the long sleeve looks marvellous under a tailored jacket or simply worn on its own.
